The Zoom alternative that actually understands tutoring

Zoom was built for business meetings. You're running tutoring sessions. That's why you end up juggling Zoom for video + Google Calendar for scheduling + WhatsApp for reminders + a spreadsheet for attendance. Teamlilit replaces all of that with one platform built specifically for tutoring.

What's wrong with Zoom for tutoring?

If you want the full breakdown, see our guide on virtual classroom vs Zoom for online tutoring. In short:

  • Link management chaos. New link per session, students lose them, you resend them.
  • No scheduling built in. You manage availability and bookings somewhere else entirely.
  • No attendance tracking. You have no idea who showed up unless you manually check.
  • No student context. Zoom doesn't know who your students are, what group they're in, or what session they're attending.
  • No session records. After the call ends, there's no trail, no notes, no history.

The real difference: everything is connected

When you start a session in Teamlilit, you already know:

  • Which class or group this session is for

After the session:

  • Attendance is recorded automatically
  • Session history is saved to each student's profile
  • You can add notes and follow up

With Zoom, you start from zero every time. For the bigger picture of teaching online without a pile of disconnected tools, read our guide on the virtual classroom for tutors.

Your classroom is not an integration

There is a second option most tutors weigh up, and it deserves a straight answer: buy a proper online classroom product, and connect it to whatever you use for scheduling, students and billing. It is a real setup and plenty of people run it. Classroom products advertise exactly that, listing integrations with tutoring admin tools so the two halves can talk.

The cost of that setup is not only the second subscription. It is that the lesson happens in one product and the record of your business lives in another, so something always has to carry data between them. A connector to set up. A sync that can quietly stop working. A lesson that exists on one side and not the other, usually discovered at the end of the month when the numbers do not add up.

Other tools integrate a classroom with your tutoring software. In Teamlilit the classroom is the tutoring software, so nothing has to be handed between two products. The attendance is not imported after the lesson, it is produced by it. The billable hours are not typed in from a calendar, they are the minutes each student was actually in the room. And the AI wrap-up has no recording to upload and no meeting to connect, because the lesson happened here.

One subscription for your tutoring business. Your live classroom is included, so you do not pay for Zoom or Lessonspace on top. See one lesson move from booking to invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Is the video quality comparable to Zoom?

Yes. Teamlilit uses LiveKit for HD video with low latency, the same technology used by enterprise video platforms.

How many participants can join a session?

Solo includes 2 people in a session, which is you and one student, so it is one-to-one only. Pro allows up to 25 people in a session and Academy up to 100, both counting you. Group sessions need Pro or Academy.

Can students join without creating an account?

No. You can send a single-use link from inside the lesson and the student joins by typing a name, with no account and no download. Guests join as listeners; to speak, share a camera, chat or draw, a student needs a free account and an invitation on stage from you, and they can create that account without leaving the room. Attendance and session history are recorded for students who are signed in.

Does it support screen sharing and whiteboard?

Yes, screen sharing, interactive whiteboard, chat, and camera/mic controls are all built into the classroom.
